Focus: Hold the shutter button down halfway. Use both hands to take pictures and hold the camera still, keep the camera close to your body.
Lighting (artificial vs Natural): Sun should always be over your shoulder, have good back lighting, and clouds are a good thing
Rule of thirds: Divides a shot into 9 grids (object should be in one of the middle corners of the grid) move subject from the center of the picture
Importance of background: eliminate unnecessary items in the pictures background. Plain background are best.
